But little may we know that we’ve been missing out on other unbelievably gorgeous natural wonders that Terengganu has to offer. From an emerald-green river, to a bright blue lake, and an enchanting firefly park, here is a list oflesser-known attractions to hit upthe next time you’re in Terengganu.

Kenyir Lake(Tasik Kenyir) is synonymous with Terengganu as it’s a major attraction in the state for both locals and tourists. Located in Hulu Terengganu, it’s an artificial lake covering a vast 38,000 hectares. The lake is surrounded by luscious rainforests and is home to a myriad of fishes.

There is an abundance of things to do on the lake and its many islands – a haven for outdoor and nature lovers alike. Avoid the north-east monsoon season around October to March every year when the lake is closed.

You can explore theBewah Cave(Gua Bewah) and marvel at its incredible formations and limestone hills, while keeping a look out for common cave inhabitants such as bats, spiders, and frogs.

If you enjoy people watching and variety of dining options, Long Beach is the place to go. You can find everything from lower-end to the more premium meals—though they are mostly either of Malay, Thai, Western or seafood varieties. The vibrant beach environment is great and it especially bustles at night with party music. There are multiple fire shows at night happening in different places between 7.30-8.30pm on the northern part of the beach. But the main highlight is the one happening around 10pm or 11pm at Black Tip Beach Bar (check the exact time with the bar).

We were hoping to snorkel and see the turtles but only quiet beach, big rock and nice white sand. Better bring your own food and drink if you want to spend some time there.

The lake itself was beautiful, very calming to be in and to look at, especially coming from the city. We took a boat ride that is offered by the operators at the jetty (beside the parking). 80 ringgit for a 20-25 minute boat ride around a small part of the lake. The boat operator was very friendly, and shared with us about the boat houses, the area, etc. There seems to be some walkways around the lake for people to walk around and take a look, but we didn’t have much time. There’s a “canteen” located just beside the jetty, but only one stall was open when we visited and we had some drinks.
