Hawksbill Crag is located in Newton County in the Ozark National Forest. The road to the trailhead is gravel and steep but we have made it numerous times in a 2 wheel drive vehicle. Just take it slow and easy.

The trail itself is moderate. It is an in and out trail of 2.9 miles round trip. One you get to the trailhead you walk downhill for a bit and then the trail flattens out. Which means that the hardest part is coming back up that incline on the way back.

"Was There in 1971. Then it was little more than a couple of water faucets ,a few picnic tables, and a outhouse! This was all along a creek in a lower pasture of a farm house. No hiking trails but the park guy told us to follow the creek up a ways a crawl into the cave. I do remember how awesome it was with the water gently falling from the roof of the cave. It took 30 minutes of driving down a old gravel road to get there so I am glad the access improved! Very very quiet and peaceful place."
